ABSTRACT: Discrete dynamic models are usually represented by iterated functions mapping the state of a system at time t into its state at time  t+1. However, in social systems the determination of the future state is often based on several past states, in other words some memory of past history of the system. Starting from a general one-dimensional discrete dynamic model, whose time evolution is driven by human decisions depending on some index of performance, two different methods to include memory effects are introduced,  both characterized by the property that the equilibrium points of the model without memory are not modified. So, it is interesting to discuss the influence of memory on stability and complexity properties, as such effects are sometimes non monotonic.

The seminar will be in presence, Room: 4057 - Building U7
