Orientation
Are you exploring your future educational options?
This section is designed to help you make informed choices about your university pathway by providing clear and comprehensive information on the Department’s academic programmes and guidance initiatives. These activities are intended to inform, support, and accompany you throughout your decision-making process.
Below you will find details of the guidance activities currently available, including both ongoing and exit-oriented initiatives. These have been developed to support you throughout your university studies and to assist you in your transition to the world of work.
The Department's guidance initiatives are integrated, coordinated and implemented in close collaboration with the Orientation Services Network of the University of Milano-Bicocca. For further information, please consult the Orientation Office & Job Placement Sector section of the University of Milano-Bicocca website, which is dedicated to student guidance.
Orientation for incoming students
The orientation programme is aimed at prospective students and is designed to support them in making an informed and conscious choice about their university education.
Each year, the Department organises orientation meetings for secondary school students to present its range of courses and degree programmes, explain how the University and the Department operate, and encourage open dialogue on expectations, motivations, and future opportunities.
Comprehensive information on orientation initiatives for new students—such as open days and workshops—as well as ongoing orientation services, including information and counselling desks dedicated to supporting new students, is available on the Orientation Office & Job Placement. This is the University of Milano-Bicocca’s virtual environment dedicated to student orientation.

Orientation for ongoing students
Orientation for ongoing students is aimed at enrolled students and accompanies them throughout their entire study pathway, with particular attention to preventing dropouts and supporting the management of academic and personal difficulties.
Among the main University services:
Counselling and Psychosocial Support Service
Free services designed to help students identify personal resources and strategies to address critical issues in their academic journey, fostering renewed motivation or, when necessary, re-orientation toward study paths more consistent with their aspirations and projects.
Tutoring
The University of Milano-Bicocca offers a structured tutoring system:
- Tutoring for first-year students, provided by master’s degree students, based on a peer-mentoring model;
- Subject-specific tutoring, carried out by graduates, PhD candidates, and early-career researchers, aimed at supporting study activities and exam preparation.
Tutoring promotes integration into the university environment, monitoring of academic progress, and informed access to the available support services.
